Merry Christmas

As it is the end of an extremely strange and challenging term, we would like to wish all of our families a happy and safe Christmas break. You may not be able to celebrate in your usual manner but we hope you are able to relax and enjoy precious family time.
To help you with this, we have added several videos of the children singing Christmas songs to the Gallery tab of our website for you to watch. They will definitely make you smile! Additionally, there are photographs of all of the Christmas activities on the gallery page for you to view.
This year, we lit up our Tree of Hope at the front of school. This year has been testing for us all, and many of you may have felt fearful, isolated and alone, but our Tree of Hope represents our hopes for the future. Not only do we hope you have a lovely rest with your families over the next two weeks but we also hope that our world begins to revert back to the normality that we were used to. We hope that 2021 is filled with fun and happiness and most of all we hope that we are all able to make many more memories that we will cherish forever.
Our last Day

What a busy last day we have had! It began with Mrs Arnold and Mr Milne selecting the winners of the PTA Christmas Raffle. Well done to the lucky winners.
Brotherton were in their own clothes today because they had won the most house points over the half term, which was the second day in a row that they were able to do this because everyone wore their own clothes on Thursday for party day.
The afternoon was extremely exciting as the children watched an online pantomime, which was very funny, particularly the cow, which made some rather interesting noises!
We all had such a great day!
Paper Chain Prize

During this morning's assembly, Mrs Arnold selected the winning paper chain from the huge chain that covered the wall of our hall. There were so many that it took her a while to choose but eventually, we were told the winner was Jessica in Year 6 - congratulations! Jessica is now the lucky owner of a Kindle Fire. Once again, we would like to say thank you to the PTA for organising this event.
Santa Part 2

Clearly, speaking online to the infant children last week was not enough for Santa so he popped in for a little visit to school today. He couldn't stay for long (as his sleigh was parked on the corner of Venables Drive) but he managed to say hello to everyone. He even remembered what a few boys and girls had asked for this year - without even checking in his book! As he was leaving he did ask us to remind all of the children to go to bed early on Christmas Eve, to continue to be good and to be safe. See you soon Santa!
Christmas Dinner

We love food at Poulton Lancelyn and this is mainly because of our wonderful kitchen team, who once again produced a delicious Christmas dinner. With the Christmas songs playing (courtesy of Mr Brew), the children and staff cheerfully tucked into their lunch. We even saw children eating sprouts!
Oak Trees Christmas Quiz

With our Year 6 pupils working remotely, we created a Year 5 quiz team to compete against Year 6 pupils from the other MAT schools. It was a tough competition but our group of pupils managed to come joint first! What an achievement! Hopefully, the quiz will involve the same questions next year so the team can remember the answers...
Elfridges

The wonderful PTA elves had a few busy days getting all of the lovely gifts ready for our children. It was a little different this year (due to the silly virus) so the children were only able to order through the Elfridges catalogue this year but the elves worked their magic and delivered some great presents.We are sure that the adults will enjoy receiving them on Christmas Day!
Santa Dash

We didn't let the rain stop us from dashing around school on Friday. Every child in the school ran our outside circuit from the start to the finish where they were greeted by Mrs Arnold to receive their medal. It was great to see that the Year 6 children were participating at home too. It was a great way to finish a hard week. With only one week left in school, we have many more festive activities to complete next week.
Santa Part 1

Even though he is incredibly busy making the final presents. Santa still had time to talk to the infant children online. The children loved seeing him but will he have time to visit school next week?
Year 6

Unfortunately, our Year 6 bubble will spend the remainder of the term learning remotely. Although we will miss having you around the school, we will still have lots of contact with you via Zoom. Keep working hard - Miss Farlam and Mr McCann are waiting to see all of your fantastic learning on Seesaw.
