At Poulton Lancelyn, we value the importance of vocabulary by making it a priority in every subject across the curriculum. Within English lessons, children are encouraged to question and explore unfamiliar vocabulary used by the teacher or within texts. Each class (Y2-Y6) will have nominated ‘Vocabulary Monitors’, who are responsible for adding newly explored vocabulary and definitions to the working wall to support and encourage the independent use of new vocabulary within children’s written and spoken English work.
