Rights Respecting Schools overview

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils. (Unicef Website)

All children and staff are currently working towards gaining our level 2 certificate for RRS and we have successfully achieved our recognition of level 1 award.

We promise to help every child to realise their rights and respect the rights of others by being responsible for their own actions and decisions. In the second half of the autumn term your child will be taking part in activities surrounding their rights and responsibilities and we would like to involve parents by asking families to make a pledge or promise to support our work in school and children everywhere.
Suggested Rights Pledge/Promises for families:

- I promise to help my child with their education at home (Article 28)
- I promise to make sure that my children have a healthy diet (Article 24)
- I promise to respect the rights of others and take my responsibilities seriously (Article 5)
